One of the few major airshows remaining in the Pacific Northwest, the Oregon International Airshow is well worth the 5+ hour drive from Vancouver. The highlight of the 2006 show had to be the performance of the Oregon ANG F-15s on Saturday. One of the pilots flew an extremely spirited display during which he would point the jet towards the crowd and then pull hard away from the crowdline. I am guessing this demo broke a few rules as they did not show up on Sunday. Oh well, it was worth it. Sadly, however, there was tragedy at the show as well as Hawker Hunter pilot Robert Guilford experienced troubles with his aircraft shortly after takeoff and ended up going down with the aircraft. Fortunately, though the aircraft went down in a residential area, no one on the ground was injured. Images from the show are below, with more on page 2.
